Two years after his acquittal, Georges Tron retried for "rapes"

2021-01-19T06:13:45.515Z

The mayor of Draveil in Essonne and his ex-deputy have always denied the facts of which two former employees accuse them.

At the start of 2021, Georges Tron and Brigitte Gruel have a meeting at the Assizes for the third time.

The first was in December 2017, in Bobigny, in the middle of a #BalanceTonPorc storm.

The trial lasted only four days, before being postponed to a later session.

The second was in October-November 2018, still in Bobigny.

At the end of four weeks of hearing, the mayor of Draveil (Essonne) and his former deputy were acquitted of the charges of "rape" and "sexual assault" in a meeting brought against them by two former employees of the town hall of Draveil, Éva Loubrieu and Virginie Ettel.

The prosecution appealed, which led to the organization of a third trial, scheduled for Tuesday January 19 to Friday February 12 at the courthouse on Île de la Cité.

The facts denounced by the two complainants would have taken place between 2007 and 2010. They describe sessions of plantar reflexology, a practice of which Georges Tron was a follower, which would have degenerated into unwanted sexual relations.

In its judgment of November 15, 2018, the Assize Court of Seine-Saint-Denis, however, considered that despite the existence of a

"general hyper sexualized climate between Georges Tron and several of his collaborators"

, the evidence of a

"situation of coercion"

has

"never been reported"

.

She also considered that Eva Loubrieu and Virginie Ettel were part of a

"logic of revenge"

, for one following her dismissal from the town hall of Draveil, for the other after a change of post in the same. town hall.

Twenty years of imprisonment incurred

The affair broke out in 2011, a few days after the arrest of Dominique Strauss-Kahn in the New York Sofitel case.

Georges Tron had resigned from his post of Secretary of State for the Public Service, while claiming his innocence.

The one who has been continuously elected at the head of the town hall of Draveil for 25 years still denies the facts, just like his former assistant for Culture, Brigitte Gruel.

"Georges Tron is determined to once again and definitively recognize his innocence after ten years of proceedings, ten years of the Stations of the Cross",

explains Me Solange Doumic, who represents him alongside Me Antoine Vey.

The mayor Les Républicains, who faces twenty years of criminal imprisonment, evokes a plot which would have been hatched against him by political opponents.

"A real cabal"

, supports Me Doumic.

For their part, the lawyers of Virginie Ettel, Me Vincent Ollivier and Me Laure Heinich, did not respond to the

Figaro's

requests

.

As for Éva Loubrieu, she is

"impatient"

that

"the guilt of the two accused is recognized,"

said her counsel, Me Loïc Guérin.

Stressing that the double acquittal of 2018 was

"very difficult to live"

for his client, the lawyer believes, however, that the recognition of a

"general climate hyper sexualized"

and the

"ability of Georges Tron to exert pressure"

by the assize court of Seine-Saint-Denis was

"an additional step forward"

.

According to him, there remains

"a step to take"

:

"to understand the absence of consent in a broader way than the caricature of rape by a stranger in an underground parking lot.

It is a real legal problem, but also a societal one.
