The hunters' coup failed.

As the district office announced yesterday, hunting advisor Klaus Thien from Schongau will remain in office for the time being.

The hunting board decided on Monday.

District - "The lower hunting authority in the district office had held preliminary talks with Klaus Thien and Manfred Berger, the chairman of the Schongau eV hunting and nature conservation association.

The suggestion was also discussed to split the Weilheim-Schongau district into two halves with regard to the responsibility for hunting advice, as was the case up to 2018.

However, this rule was no longer favored.

After that, the appointment of Manfred Berger as a hunting advisor was specifically planned by the lower hunting authorities ”, the district administration confirmed information that the local newspaper had already had for a long time.

Thien does not want a full further term of office “for private reasons”

“Before the meeting of the hunting council, there was a public discussion about the appointment of the future hunting advisor, which was also the subject of the deliberations in the hunting council.

The hunting advisory board then came to the conclusion that Klaus Thien's term of office as hunting advisor should be extended for another year.

His successor is to be determined by the lower hunting authority after hearing the hunting council in March 2022.

Appeal by Manfred Berger declined with thanks

The original plan was to replace the forester Thien with the hunter Berger, because the hunters in the district feel that they and their concerns are not sufficiently represented.

This had caused a storm of indignation - especially among the farmers' association and the members of the hunting council.

"The lower hunting authority thanks especially Mr. Berger for his willingness and asks for understanding," it says now.
