A nurse pointed to Yuan holding the throat in his left hand
Ding Yunwen, a doctor at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, said that Yuan was found to have lung infections and congestive heart failure when he was admitted to the hospital, and later developed pneumonia.
Five days before the incident, his condition was severe to critical and he needed a high-efficiency ventilator to assist in breathing.
On the morning of the incident, Yuan was still able to follow the instructions of the doctors. However, at about 1 noon, he was informed that Yuan’s venting throat had loosened. A nurse claimed that Yuan held the throat tube in his left hand. Yuan Jing died after being rescued.
Prescription of sedatives during intubation
Ding Xu pointed out that after the hospital intubated Yuan to help her breathe, she also prescribed sedative drugs to relieve the patient's discomfort and reduce the risk of the patient pulling out the throat, but the drugs will lower the patient's blood pressure and affect the circulatory system.
However, because Yuan's blood pressure was later found to be low, and she did not struggle after intubation, she did not continue to prescribe sedatives.
He admitted that Yuan's situation must be supported by a ventilator. Without the assistance of a ventilator, it will lead to low blood oxygen levels and other problems.
