It is a central question for Rottenbuch: Where can and would the Regens Wagner Foundation build the new Don Bosco School?

There now seems to be a concrete plan for this - that would have consequences for the community.

Rottenbuch

- Actually there are only three topics that are on the agenda of the Rottenbuch municipal council - but they are of great importance for the place.

Because the first point that the committee will talk about on Wednesday, January 20, is the construction of the Don Bosco special school.

The Regens Wagner Foundation has submitted an application for a preliminary decision.

This means that there are plans that the community has longingly been waiting for - because these also have an impact on other projects.

The central question in the project is where the school should be built.

Achim Gerbig, general manager of "Regens Wagner Rottenbuch", does not want to say anything about the new building in the run-up to the council meeting.

But the agenda already provides some information: Because the building application refers to the cloister courtyard.

The gardening site seems to be off the table for Regens Wagner.

This can also be concluded from item three of the agenda: “Advice and fundamental decisions on the planning of the fire station, building yard and local supplies on the nursery site / Postplatz”, it says - the planning stop for the nursery site seems to have been lifted.

As a reminder: In January 2017, the Rottenbuch community bought the property directly on the B23. A full-range supplier was to be housed on the approximately 13,000 square meter area, the councils back then in favor of "Edeka", as well as the fire station and the building yard.

But there was resistance in the village against the supermarket.

Business people collected 509 signatures against the project, 352 of which came from Rottenbuchers.

Ultimately, there was a referendum in September 2017 - the first in the history of the municipality.

62.7 percent of voters spoke out in favor of the municipal council's plans.

But that didn't mean it could start right away.

The authorities had to be brought on board - including the monument protection.

Because the line of sight to the monastery village should not be impaired by the new building.

A feasibility study was also commissioned and alternative locations were examined.

The surprising finding: there is actually another option for a new building in the village.

In autumn 2018, the planners brought the Postplatz into play for a full-range supplier, and they could imagine the fire station and building yard near the sports grounds.

And the nursery area?

That was brought into the running for the new building of the Don Bosco special school.

In order to buy Regens Wagner time, the municipality imposed a planning stop for the plot of land on the B 23, and instead had the options on Postplatz examined in an architectural competition.

If Regens Wagner now decides to build a new building elsewhere, the municipality will again have a choice: continue with the plans on Postplatz or target the gardening site again.

The meeting of

the Rottenbuch municipal council will take place this Wednesday from 7.30 p.m. in the conference room of the Rottenbuch town hall.

In addition to the application for a preliminary decision for the new construction of the Don Bosco School and the fundamental decision for the gardening site / Postplatz, the new version of the parking space statutes is also pending.
