The people of Egenhofen should be able to return directly to Glonnau in the future.

Over three years after the old bridge over the free ditch was demolished, a new path is to be built - in the south of the community behind a playground.

Egenhofen - At the end of March 2017, the bridge that led over the Freigraben, a branch of the Glonn at the end of Mühlstrasse, disappeared almost overnight.

The water management office had it demolished because the stream is planned to be relocated and renatured.

The road was plowed.

The bridge over the Glonn was closed.

Since then, the people of Egenhofen have had to use the state road when they want to walk or cycle to Poigern or into the woods.

The outrage was great in Egenhofen at the time.

A citizens' initiative was formed and demanded that the old, historical access to the Glonnau be restored.

The initiative argued with historical customary law.

Since then some water has flowed down the Glonn, nothing has happened.

But now things are moving again.

Because the municipal council has decided that a new access to the Glonnau should be realized.

The mayor was authorized to obtain corresponding offers and to place orders.

The plan is for the new path to be built at the southern end of Mühlstrasse, behind a playground.

There is already a private concrete structure over the Glonn.

"This will get a railing," explains town hall chief Martin Obermeier (NLE) when asked by the daily newspaper.

A bridge is to be built over the trench behind it.

The idea of using the existing crossing at the southern end of Mühlstrasse as an alternative route is new, but not.

It was already discussed in September 2017.

Now it should be implemented.

“The aim is to be able to walk from there to Glonnau this year,” explains Obermeier.

"I think this is a solution that gives the people of Egenhofen a quick way to get into this area."

Similar to the old one, the path should be around 1.20 meters wide.

How and where exactly it should run and, above all, how much reason is needed, that still needs to be clarified.

The municipality has yet to buy this area.

As Obermeier reports, this has been clarified with the water management office, which owns the soil there.

"It was agreed that a land acquisition is possible".

As a first step, a surveyor should now be commissioned.

They will work out a possible route and also find out how much ground must ultimately be acquired.

Funds for the realization of the new access should be placed in the budget, so the mayor.

Nothing can be said about the costs at the moment.

According to Obermeier, the historic route is not completely off the table.

In the long term, the town hall chief has in mind to reactivate the old path - not through bridges, but through fords.

These are already planned as part of the Glonn relocation, according to Obermeier.

A circular route could be created in this way.

This idea has already been discussed with the water management office.

The citizens' initiative rejects alternative access to Glonnau.

She has contradicted the municipal council resolution, as can be seen from a statement.

Because the BI is of the opinion that the old legal way is still valid.

She accuses the community of not clarifying the legal situation regarding the old way, but of wanting to create something new as a substitute.

"This means that the interests of individuals take precedence over concerns of the common good," the statement said.

Because the closed bridge over the Glonn is partly privately owned.

In addition, the construction of a new bridge and the creation of a new path at the southern end of Mühlstraße are more expensive than restoring the old route, argues the citizens' initiative.

Why the latter does not happen is not understandable.
