Neuried has money worries and urgently needs to reduce the budget deficit in 2021.

In the spirit of community solidarity, the music school is setting an example and foregoing a 109,000 euro grant.

Neuried

- With a deficit of 1.8 million euros in the administrative budget and currently 11.6 million euros in the asset budget, the 2021 budget of the municipality of Neuried is currently not approvable.

It needs to be consolidated.

“It's going to be a sporting task,” said the treasurer of the community Roland Zürnstein when asked by Merkur.

The steadily dwindling performance of the administrative budget and the high level of investment allowed only one conclusion: save wherever possible.

So now the building committee, social committee and on Tuesday evening also the main, finance and personnel committee (HFP) are meticulously examining which adjustment screw can still be turned until the budget actually has to be passed in a few weeks.

The focus was on grant applications from the clubs and possible increases in income.

And here the Neuried Music School, represented by the director Christoph Peters, offered a generous waiver.

Instead of the annual grant of 209,000 euros, 100,000 euros are enough for her this year.

“That is our subsistence level,” says Peters.

"But we are all in the same boat and see it as our duty to help the community with this dramatic budget situation." The music school would like to finance this by accessing reserves.

The most important thing is that the teaching staff can continue to be paid.

Since the community subsidy, along with ten percent state subsidy and 70 percent parental contributions, only makes up 20 percent, it is possible for this year, explained Peters.

In 2022, the full grant will then be vital.

Otherwise you run the risk of no longer falling under the requirements of the state grant and thus risking losses of 50,000 euros.

In the case of the other grant applications, the HFP used the red pen as a flat rate of ten percent less than the amounts applied for.

TSV Neuried also agreed to this reduction.

Instead of the 200,000 euros, 180,000 euros are put into the planning for the sports club.

Fees should rise

The kindergarten fees will be increased for the new kindergarten year in September.

Details are not yet clear.

The HFP also endorsed an increase in funeral fees.

The responsible body has not yet dared to raise the trade tax multiplier.

There is a fear of scaring off traders - especially in this difficult phase of the pandemic.

The extent to which a sale of community-owned land could be an effective means of financing loans is open.

For the time being, the committee is discussing this subject behind closed doors.
