The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has been meeting in Beijing for three consecutive days starting today (20th). Regarding the rumor that Beijing may introduce measures to counter the British BNO's "5+1" plan, Tan Yaozong, a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said he had not heard of it.
Tan Yaozong, who is in Beijing, said that he received the first dose of Sinopharm vaccine today without any side effects. He hoped that the central government would send the Sinopharm vaccine to Hong Kong citizens.
In an interview with the media, Tan Yaozong said that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress does not have a Hong Kong-related agenda for the time being. This time the additional meeting is due to the backlog of bills, but because of the need to discuss Hong Kong issues, we hope that the society will not over-speculate.
Tan Yaozong said that he was informed that the Central Committee arranged for deputies of the People's Congress and CPPCC members of the Hong Kong District People's Congress to go to Shenzhen for vaccination before the "two sessions" convened in March, but he was not sure whether it was mandatory.
He also said that today he renewed the three previous requests to the Central Committee to the Secretary-General of the Standing Committee, including the hope that the authorities will provide domestic vaccines to Hong Kong as soon as possible so that citizens no longer need to undergo 14-day quarantine after returning to the Mainland and open the border between the two places.
