The European Union has expressed its hope for a change in relations with the United States with the inauguration of Joe Biden as President of the United States, following the changes that the world has witnessed four years after the term of outgoing President Donald Trump.
The Associated Press quoted European Commission President Ursula von Derleen as saying during a session of the European Parliament in which she touched on the inauguration of the new US president and the political situation that this moment we have been waiting for for a long time, noting that Europe has once again become a friend in the White House.
She said that Europe is ready to resume communication with an old partner in order to deal with global challenges that need strong and renewed international cooperation, and von der Leyen welcomed the new administration's announcement of its endeavor to cooperate in the fight against the Corona virus.
Von der Leyen spoke about the storming of the Capitol and said that we are not immune to such an issue in Europe, despite our confidence in European democracy, so the spread of hate speech and misinformation must be prevented.
