Dachau - Despite the winter weather, there is no standstill at the Dachau indoor swimming pool.
As the municipal utilities explain, a so-called post-and-beam facade was recently built.
In addition, the wooden trusses of the roof structure are reinforced.
According to the Stadtwerke, the reinforcement is necessary for structural reasons, "because otherwise the facade would be stressed with excessive torsional forces in difficult weather conditions".
When the reinforcement of the roof structure has been completed, the glazing should be installed.
The fact that such comparatively small construction progress has to be reported at all is due to the fact that the Dachau indoor swimming pool - despite or probably because of its unusual architecture - is growing into the number one problem construction site in the city.
The building, which was supposed to have been completed by the end of 2019, is heating up the public's minds with more and more breakdowns and delays and the associated massive increase in costs.
An opening in autumn 2022 currently seems realistic.
Instead of estimated costs of around 20 million euros, those responsible now speak of 25 million euros.
In order to recoup at least part of the additional costs, the municipal utilities have filed lawsuits against some of the construction companies involved.
