Baubigny: "In Racing 92, we hate having the taste of defeat in our mouths"

2021-01-21T17:25:51.525Z

The Ile-de-France hooker (22 years old, 1 selection) is convinced that his team will bounce back on Saturday against Bordeaux-Bègles, after the setback conceded against Toulon and the end of his fine series of six victories.

How was your week, after this setback at home against Toulon (23-29) which ended your series of six wins in a row?

Teddy Baubigny:

It was a bit difficult.

A week after a loss at home, it's still a bit special.

We got back to work, we refocused on the simple things that make our game. We said things to each other to respond in the best way on Saturday against Bordeaux-Bègles.

Your manager Laurent travers had spoken of a "halt".

Do you share this opinion?

Yes.

We were emerging from a small series of victories.

It had been a while since we had lost and we don't like having that taste in our mouth, we even hate it.

It was necessarily a little halt that we hope to stop by getting back on track.

You play again at the Arena.

Is it a good thing to recover from this defeat?

It's a chance to have the opportunity to catch up with us on our own ground.

"I have absolutely no fear that the UBB will pack the match, because I have complete confidence in our ability to send fire too!"

How do you explain this defeat?

What went wrong?

We lacked efficiency at key moments in the match.

Afterwards, we must recognize that Toulon released a very big game, at all levels.

We failed in a few sectors, which we worked on this week.

What does this Bordeaux-Bègles team inspire you?

It's a very strong team.

With a lot of very high level players.

The Woki, Jalibert, Ducuing, Buros who are in good shape at the moment.

A very good team that we necessarily expect.

We are also aware that they took a small slap at home by drawing a match (against Clermont).

We too are committed to achieving the best possible result.

It's a very playful team.

Are you worried that they will pack the party at the Arena?

I have absolutely no fear that they will wrap the match, because I have complete confidence in our ability to send fire too!

“I'm happy with what's going on but I'm still very hungry.

There are still a lot of things to reach, to go and find ”

How was Virimi Vakatawa this week, after his blunder against the RCT?

He was bound to be disappointed.

After that, to be honest, there's no hard feelings or anything from the team.

Virimi made a mistake, as it can happen to anyone in training.

He is a player apart, we all know that.

Considering the good he does to us every day and all year round, we are not going to blame him for this mistake.

How do you see your career, which has accelerated a lot lately?

So far, I'm pretty happy.

I have so far managed to achieve all of my goals.

First in a club, I had the chance to play frequently.

I was also lucky to be also selected (in the French team).

So far I'm happy with what's going on but I'm still very hungry.

There are still a lot of things to reach, to find.

In particular titles with the club.

And, on a personal level, continue to apply at the highest level.

You started by playing golf before coming to rugby ...

Golf was a bit like my family's sport.

My grandfather played a lot and on weekends I was at his house a lot, so he took me with him.

It started at two and a half, three with plastic clubs.

As I started early I had little automatisms, it went well.

I did it until 11 years old.

I had the chance to participate in some qualifications, the French championships, it was a nice little level.

I was in older age categories than mine.

The atmosphere then displeased me and I went to team sports.

But I have fond memories of it and I continue to go there frequently.

"The calm and concentration in which you have to be to throw, I gained a little experience thanks to golf"

Did golf give you anything for rugby?

A lot of people talk to me about it, it's hard to know if it helps me in a sector.

Afterwards, in golf, we repeat a precise gesture frequently.

I am thinking of throws in touch.

The calm and concentration in which you have to be to throw, I gained a little experience thanks to golf.

In golf, it's a relaxation and a refocus.

I may have used it, but whether it really helped me I don't know.

Was it difficult to learn the touch for you started in the center and then in the third row?

It was not at all a gesture that was innate with me.

There are players for whom it is natural, me it was not at all the case.

There has been a lot of work.

I had the chance to be well surrounded to progress.

It has been a very long time and there is still a lot of work to be done.
