VIDEO INTERVIEW - The president of the Pays de la Loire region believes that "the right must assume what it is".

"

The stake is national unity"

, called Christelle Morancais on the set of "Talk Le Figaro", Thursday.

At the helm of the Pays de la Loire region since October 2017 when she succeeded Senator LR Bruno Retailleau, the Republican is a pragmatist.

If she criticizes the government for a lack of transparency in crisis management, she especially regrets its overly vertical policy:

"It is the State which leads, but it must trust the communities", she

believes.

On the other hand, she welcomes

"the measures which have been put in place by the State at the economic level"

.

With a stimulus plan of 500 million euros for the Pays de la Loire region, its objective is to complement State mechanisms.

If certain sectors are in great difficulty,

“we also have a regional economy which is doing well, our companies invest, innovate and recruit.

We must accompany them, ”she

assures us.

"This crisis is unprecedented but the response is collective"

, she swears, collectively calling on everyone to stick together, because

"it is the only way out".

Also and above all

,

she asks the government to

"set a course"

to reassure the French.

As for the outputs of certain counterparts on vaccine orders at the regional level,

"it's lying, you have to show responsibility, you don't buy vaccines like you buy masks, it's a drug. .

We have to trust the government, ”she

insists.

Christelle Morancais does not want to cut corners, preferring by far to

"field and be in action"

rather than long speeches.

"There will be time to take stock"

, but the major lesson it draws from this crisis is an overflow of technocracy.

"We have been able to show flexibility and responsiveness, but above all we need simplicity which our country sorely lacks

," she said.

Many statements are emerging in the run-up to the presidential election.

Will the election be decided on the results of the crisis?

“We're not there.

I don't think that the priority of the French today is the presidential election, they want solutions. ”

If at this stage there is a plethora of candidates, many of them turn out to be right.

How will LR determine his candidate?

"Above all, we have to show a lot of humility in the current context

," she said.

“We have a right that is curled up on itself

.

"When I hear right-wing politicians who say they want to rally with Jean-Pierre Chevènement and Arnaud Montebourg, we walk on the head," she

castigates about Xavier Bertrand, among others.

"The right must assume what it is, a liberal right on the economic side, strict on the sovereign side, a European right but not Eurobeat and fair on the social side"

, she judges.

Finally,

"we need a right that carries positive messages, of hope and the future, a right that speaks to youth, the family, the environment"

.

At this point, she concludes,

“I don't see anyone to embody this right”

.
