The investigative chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal also refused new requests for documents from the victim's family, the same source said.

I expected it, it's not a surprise.

Justice protects this policeman, it does not want to give the elements which allow to speak the truth.

All the acts that our lawyer requested, justice does not want to give

”, reacted Mahamadou Camara, Gaye's brother.

"

We will go to cassation, to the European Court (of human rights) if necessary,

" he added.

Asked by AFP, the family lawyer did not wish to speak.

Originally from Seine-et-Marne, Gaye Camara, 26, was shot in the head during a police operation, while he was driving his car, on the night of the 16th January 2018 in Epinay-sur-Seine.

In August 2019, an investigating judge dismissed the case for the benefit of the police officer who opened fire, considering that he had acted in self-defense.

Gaye Camara's family appealed against this decision.

She has been calling since the opening of a "

real investigation

" into the circumstances of the victim's death and a reconstruction of the facts.

In an investigation published Monday, the investigative media

Disclose

, in partnership with the expertise agency Index, estimated that there was "

serious doubt about the reality of the state of self-defense of the policeman involved

" .

Disclose

explained that it relied on evidence gathered during the judicial investigation and elements of the police interview before the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) to model the scene of the incident.

This work shows that at the time of the shooting, "

the police officer is not facing Gaye Camara's car

", which "

is therefore not rushing over him

", the media concluded.

"

This independent investigation proves that my little brother was shot,

" said Mahamadou Camara.

Contacted by AFP, the police officer's lawyer was not immediately reachable.
