(CNN) -
A double suicide bombing rocked a crowded market in central Baghdad Thursday morning, leaving at least 13 people dead, a security official told CNN.
Three rockets hit the US Embassy compound in Baghdad, according to a US official
Security forces say they chased down the two attackers before they blew themselves up.
It was the first suicide attack in Baghdad in nearly two years.
The first attacker entered the market and, pretending to be ill, asked for help, prompting people to gather around him before he blew himself up, according to state media and officials.
The second attacker then headed to the scene on a motorcycle before detonating his explosive vest.
Double attacks were common in Iraq during the height of its sectarian war between 2005 and 2007.
