The power supply was cut off in Quneitra governorate due to a technical failure on the 66 KV line feeding the governorate and connecting the two stations of Khan al-Shih in Damascus countryside and Ayouba in Quneitra due to the prevailing weather conditions.

The director of the Quneitra Electricity Company, Eng. Bassam Al-Masry, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the torrential rains and strong winds led to a technical failure in the power transmission lines and the power outage in Quneitra governorate.

Al-Masry pointed to the tendency of maintenance workshops in the General Organization for the Transmission and Distribution of Electricity and the initiation of maintenance and repair work, pointing to the difficulty of work due to the distance of the towers from the main road and the prevailing weather conditions in addition to the pool of water and mud because of the nature of the agricultural land.
