The White House coronavirus coordinator Jeff Zients said he believes the vaccine supply will be adequate to meet the Biden administration's goal of administering 100 million injections in 100 days.

"In terms of manufacturer-specific projections, we know there is enough supply to do 100 million injections in 100 days," Zients told reporters at a briefing ahead of the launch of the new "National Strategy for Response to Covid-19 and preparation for a pandemic ”.

Zients also vowed to clear up confusion about how many vaccines each state will receive and when.

"You know, in terms of allocations, our system will have equity as the cornerstone of how we do the allocation," Zients said.

“We will work to provide projections on the offer.

We hear over and over from local governors and leaders who just don't know what supply is coming in and can't plan.

Over the next few days we will take care of what is happening and make sure we are communicating with states and localities so that they can prepare effectively, ”Zients added.

"Clearly we need strong coordination to ensure supply availability and information exchange, and that is what we will do," he said.

Some Background on Vaccines in the US

US President Joe Biden has pledged to provide 100 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in his first 100 days in office.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the president's newly installed chief medical adviser, said Friday that Biden's goal is quite feasible.

"Are you still optimistic that we can get 100 million doses in 100 days?" NBC's Craig Melvin asked Fauci during an interview on the Today Show.

"I really do," Fauci replied.
