Will the island still be popular with travelers in 2021?

The measures in Mallorca * have only just been tightened again in view of the high Covid 19 infection figures.

All of Spain, including the holiday island so popular with German citizens, remains a risk area for the time being.

But the Germans won't give up their favorite island anytime soon.

According to a current data analysis by FeWo-direkt, online search portal for holiday homes, the interest in the Balearic Islands is so high that the archipelago was able to secure a place in the top 5 most searched travel destinations for 2021.

When it comes to holidays, many Germans are creatures of habit.

A survey ** by FeWo-direkt among German families showed that 42 percent would like to go on holiday to the same travel destinations this year as they did before Corona.

No wonder, then, that

the Balearic Islands with Mallorca 2021 will again meet with great interest among holidaymakers

and leave behind some holiday regions on the North and Baltic Seas, which were still far ahead of the Balearic Islands in summer 2020.

"The beautiful bays and beaches, the mild climate and the large selection of top-equipped fincas make Mallorca a perfect destination for families with children," says Aye Helsig, Regional Director Central Europe at FeWo-direkt.

"What families are longing for now is the calm after the storm, after a break from home office and homeschooling and after carefree moments with lots of sun, beach and sea with the family."

Germans are particularly interested in holiday homes in the summer months.

Almost half of all FeWo-direkt customers who researched holiday accommodation at the end of December related to stays in June, July and August 2021. Germans are much more cautious about Easter.

Most families want to be on the safe side and therefore rely on the summer instead of the Easter holidays

.

The risk is simply too high for many in April.

The summer months offer much better prospects - also because of the vaccinations, "says Helsig.
