Tung Wah College announced that the Board of Trustees appointed the former vice-president of the University of Newcastle in Australia and nursing education scholar Chen Huici as the third principal. The term of office will begin last Wednesday (13th) for a period of five years, replacing the previous March last year. Lu Ruhan, who has retired and is now the vice president of the OUHK.

Donghua pointed out that in the next few years, Chen Huici will strive to promote the college to become a high-quality private university, inherit the development foundation of the college over the past ten years, keep pace with the times, and continue to provide high-quality professional courses to respond to and meet social needs.

Chen Huici, the former vice president of Newcastle University (Singapore), Australia and a nursing education scholar, was appointed as the third president of Donghua College for a term of 5 years.

According to the information of Tung Wah College, Chen Huici grew up in Hong Kong and became a registered nurse. Later, she worked overseas and obtained bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Charles Sturt University, Edinburgh University, Oxford Brookes University.

Before joining Tung Wah College, she served as the vice president of the University of Newcastle in Australia (Singapore campus). From 2014 to 2019, she served as the dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Newcastle in Australia. Since 1992, she has taught at PolyU and CUHK. And National University of Singapore.



Main research includes mental health, psychosocial intervention, etc.

Chen Huici is an internationally renowned scholar in nursing education. His main research areas include mental health, psychosocial intervention, mental health of pregnant women and professional health education.

She has published more than 400 papers in international medical journals and conferences. In 2018, she was selected as one of the ten most cited Australian and New Zealand scholars by the well-known journal of advanced nursing journals (JAN).

She has been honored as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing Sciences since 2013, and has been awarded the International Nursing Researcher Hall of Fame by the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society) in recognition of her outstanding achievements and contributions in the field of health care.

Tung Wah College stated that Chen Huici attended the school's public forum on December 9 last year and met with the college staff and students respectively.

Chen Huici said that she is honored to be appointed as the president of Donghua College. In the future, she will further improve the academic level and teaching quality of the college, lead the college to become a private university, and cultivate more responsible and caring professionals for the society.
