The priorities in the Planegger town hall have changed: the free bus ride within the municipality has died. Decided as a pilot project in April 2020, it has not yet been implemented. And the proposed 50,000 euros are no longer included in the 2021 draft budget.

The priorities in the Planegger town hall have changed: the free bus ride within the municipality has died.

Decided as a pilot project in April 2020, it has not yet been implemented.

And the proposed 50,000 euros are no longer included in the 2021 draft budget.

Planegg

- The holiday committee, which met in the spring of last year in place of the municipal council due to corona, used the last meeting of the past electoral period to let Planegg take on a pioneering role in the Würmtal.

With 6: 3 votes, he decided to enable free bus trips for Planegger within the local area as part of a pilot project.

A working group with representatives from all political groups as well as administrative staff had drafted the concept, which was adopted at the end of April.

Since the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV) does not take on the handling of such offers, the municipal administration should step in.

Bus trips within the municipal boundaries are considered short journeys.

Single tickets were to be purchased for 50,000 euros and given to applicants in packages of 40 tickets each.

The tickets should have been submitted en bloc after use.

The administration should use the stamp to see whether local lines were used.

The start of the project was planned for June 2020

Despite the corona pandemic, the project should start at the beginning of June.

But nothing came of it.

"It was a difficult and stressful time," says Felix Kempf, spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group that initiated the whole thing.

"But we had hoped that this would not be dropped in the long term." But after the departure of the SPD mayor Heinrich Hofmann and the assumption of office of the CSU member Hermann Nafziger nothing more was to be heard.

The hiring of a mobility officer did not change that.

When the 50,000 euros were no longer included in the administrative bill for the 2021 budget, the SPD parliamentary group applied for this to be done.

“It's a great project.

It is environmentally friendly and brings our two districts together, ”said Christine Hallinger (SPD).

She was supported by Angelika Lawo (green group 21): “The topic is really important.

Many parts of the population here in Planegg want free bus transport. ”Peter von Schall-Riaucour (FDP list) also said:“ I think it's a very good idea. ”

Alliance 90 / The Greens also oppose it

What was still considered feasible last spring is now obviously a problem for the administration and the new mayor. "That has not yet been thought through to the end," said managing director Stefan Schaudig, calling for "as little work as possible".

Only cities that are the sole cost bearers of local public transport, such as Augsburg, would have something comparable, but not municipalities that are members of an association area such as Planegg.

Mayor Nafziger said: “We don't know how to implement this.

You can't make a pilot project out of it at the moment. ”The majority of the committee agreed.

Judith Grimme, whose party Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen has expressly committed itself to promoting local public transport as a component of the traffic and climate change, was among the six councilors who voted to include the funds in the budget.

Grimme said: “We think that it cannot be done without MVV.

The implementation has to be solved first. "

The solution has been known since last April, and free bus travel is also possible without MVV.

Single tickets are stamped on the bus.

The stamp reveals everything a clerk in the town hall needs to know: time, date, which line was used, at which stop it was stamped and the direction of travel.

Kempf: "It would be a certain amount of effort, but it would be possible." An effort that is not willing to undertake.
