At the same time as President Joe Biden was addressing his first post-inauguration address to the nation, accompanied by his wife, children and grandchildren, a

lone man in uniform

knelt in front of Beau Biden's grave at Brandywine Church in Delaware. .

The moment was captured and shared on Twitter by Patricia Talorico, a reporter for the Delaware Online website: the image shows the man kneeling, with his head down and his hands clasped.

The identity of the uniformed man is unknown, since the reporter, in a show of respect, decided not to approach the man who was in a silent vigil.  

Beau Biden, the eldest of the president's three children with his previous wife, Neilia Hunter Biden, was Delaware's attorney general for 12 years.

He passed away on May 30, 2015 (when his father was vice president) of a brain tumor at the age of 46.

His mother had lost her life in a car accident in 1972 along with her only daughter, Naomi.

Beau Biden and his brother Hunter were injured.

In a piece for the media, the journalist narrated that, as natives of Delaware, Beau Biden and she had mutual friends and coincided in some events.

However, they formally appeared one day when the reporter, worried about a piece she had to deliver, was sitting on a school bench.

“I'm sure desperation was showing on my face.

Then I heard a friendly voice say, 'Hey, how are you?

You're good?'.

I turned up and it was Beau standing in front of me, holding out a hand, ”he recounted.

The image of the uniformed man went viral on Twitter, where several people

speculated

that it was a police officer sent to protect the grave, or a veteran who had served alongside Beau Biden in Iraq, according to The Washington Post.

“I don't care what the reason was that he was there.

I just appreciate that Beau was not alone during this historic day, "wrote a user of the social network.

For his part, Talorico assured that, as a journalist, he was curious to stop the car and speak with the uniformed man at that very significant moment.

However, he did not do it.

"The person who once received a kind gesture from Beau when he needed it most knew it was a time to be respectful, and I left," he said.
