The emergency care of children works well under the circumstances.

This is the conclusion of the education authority.

Around seven percent of children in elementary and middle schools use the offer.

However, emergency care is a challenge for the teachers.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- Around 11,000 students attend primary and secondary schools in the district.

The picture that emerges is correspondingly differentiated.

While an average of around ten percent of children in primary schools are in emergency care, the number in secondary schools is correspondingly lower.

The hurdle to emergency care is low: Actually, anyone can visit who wants to.

For the teachers this is of course a challenge.

On the one hand, they have to teach their classes from a distance, on the other hand, they have to take over supervision groups from time to time.

The pupils receive lessons from their class teacher, while the supervisor takes care of the process and the supervision.

Of course, the children have to wear a mask and should stay in their places.

Some of the children have been given tablets and headphones that enable them to take part in video conferences.

The head of the school office, Bettina Betz, is happy that many head of the school switched very early.

The often quoted Mebis program is only used to a very limited extent - MS Teams is very often the method of choice, whereby the municipalities have also helped a lot here.

Better in school than in private groups

In emergency care, depending on the school, children from several grades are grouped together or cared for depending on the grade.

That depends on the possibilities of the respective school, on the hygiene concept, but also on the number of children to be looked after.

Bettina Betz is not aware of any corona infections from emergency care, on the contrary: she prefers the children to be in school than in home care groups.

Because in the school, ventilation and compliance with the mask requirement are guaranteed.

Overall, it cannot be denied that the situation could cause children to suffer from learning difficulties.

This is to be expected especially in the less educated classes.

Part of the danger: Children of foreign parents have just learned German with great difficulty - and now suddenly only speak their mother tongue at home.

“Our concern is: How does it work at home?” Betz describes two examples: Once a child told her teacher that she finally wanted to have a good lunch again - another child fell over the elementary school teacher at a chance meeting on the street Hals and cried to be allowed to go back to school.

School principals therefore specifically admit children from difficult circumstances into emergency care.

Despite everything got off to a good start

Despite these difficulties, Betz is convinced that the emergency care has started well and is working.

She does not see any large numbers of infections in primary schools.

Alternating lessons are not a good solution - then emergency care is hardly possible because the teachers have to work on two levels.

Thanks to the goodwill of many, it is possible to create the most acceptable situation possible - despite all corona-related difficulties.

After all: For some time now, the head of the school administration has not received any complaints about emergency care.

Emergency care hardly plays a role in secondary schools, said a spokeswoman for the district office.

Between one and six students per school would take the opportunity.

It is only different in the funding centers.

There are 30 children each in emergency care.
