According to official figures, more than 20 people were killed in a serious attack in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
The AFP news agency reported, citing the country's interior ministry.
The dpa news agency also reported from security circles of at least 21 dead and 50 injured.
According to the Iraqi army, two suicide bombers blew themselves up in a busy market in the center of the city.
Before that, there was a chase with security forces, said army spokesman Jahia Rasul to the dpa.
In fact, in the Bab al-Sharki district in the city center, no one initially confessed.
Return of violence
The rescue services said that the number of victims could increase significantly.
The Ministry of Health put all medical staff in the capital on alert.
Violence in Baghdad has decreased in recent years, with the last attack in the capital taking place in June 2019.
Three years ago, an assassin on Tajaran Square killed 31 people.
