After the death of the Mayor of Hallbergmoos, no political group apparently wants to campaign.

It looks like there is only one candidate.

Hallbergmoos

- A new mayor will be elected in Hallbergmoos in April.

After the shock over the death of the incumbent Harald Reents and in view of the pandemic, apparently no political group is interested in waging an election campaign.

It looks like there will only be one candidate who is supported or tolerated by all groups.

The votes from the local associations suggest that the candidate, like his deceased predecessor, comes from the ranks of the CSU.

“We must first and foremost look to the future of the church.

Talks are currently in progress to find a candidate who can unite and who is supported by many, ”emphasizes CSU local chairman Tanja Knieler.

"We are well on the way to finding a very good solution for the location." By mid-February at the latest, the CSU must hold a meeting of delegates for the Bundestag election as a face-to-face event.

It would make sense to couple the annual general meeting and the constellation meeting for a candidate for mayor to it.

“All of our professional and private situation” prevents Greens from putting up their own candidates

The Greens, who had sent parliamentary group leader Sabina Brosch in the race for the town hall chair in the local elections, were the first party to officially position themselves: According to a press release, there will be no candidates for the 2021 election.

That was decided in the virtual local association meeting on Thursday.

“Nothing has changed in the fact that we continue to adhere to our basic democratic understanding that citizens and voters should have a real choice between several candidates in order to express their political will,” emphasized local chairman Erwin Grießer.

This is only possible to a limited extent with just one candidate.

“We are not afraid to campaign for the vacant first mayor's office.

As it was a year ago, this election campaign would be factually sound and geared towards our green values. "

However, what has changed in relation to the 2019/2020 situation and why the local board and members are currently unable to present their own candidate is "everyone's professional and private situation," explained Grießer.

“For the candidate, entering an election campaign means preparing.

Unfortunately, Corona also has an impact here.

Because for those who are in professional life, the top priority at the moment is to master the pandemic economically, ”emphasized Brosch.

SPD: "Will benevolently accompany a consensus candidate"

The SPD also conferred digitally on Thursday, at times 80 percent of the members were connected.

Here, too, the main focus was on the election of the mayor.

According to parliamentary group spokesman Stefan Kronner, the result was clear: The SPD will not submit its own applicant.

"We will accept a consensus candidate proposed by the CSU, accompany them benevolently and cooperate with them." The SPD will not take part in election campaigns.

Free voters: continue the session without political disputes

Thomas Henning, FW parliamentary group leader and defeated mayor candidate 2020, would also like to avoid an election campaign in times of a pandemic.

He himself does not want to run again for professional reasons.

Henning emphasized that the candidate is supported by a broad, non-partisan spectrum and has experience in local politics, would also be in the interests of free voters.

In view of the major tasks, it is important to continue the session without political disputes.

Agreement: Find an applicant capable of reaching a consensus

None of the incumbent council members from the non-party electoral association “Unity” will step into the ring, said parliamentary group leader Wolfgang Reiland.

He also supports the concern of finding an applicant who is capable of reaching a consensus and is supported by all groups.

The members will now be informed in writing about this position of the parliamentary group and the local board - and they will wait for the feedback.
