A total of seven men, aged 31 to 50, were arrested Tuesday, January 18 in Haute-Marne, Isère and in the Vosges in the context of this case by some 110 soldiers, including the GIGN of Reims.
One of them was released.
The searches led to the discovery of two stolen vehicles, including one buried in the property of one of the criminals, as well as numerous elements demonstrating the preparation of new acts, whether they were car thefts (so-called ODB boxes allowing the starting of vehicles without breaking in ...) or attacks on distributors (4.5-volt batteries assembled and able to serve as a detonator, 2 regulators for gas cylinder ...), said the same source.
The attacks began in April, notably in the Vosges department at Contrexeville and Vittel and in Haute-Saône at Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse.
A judicial investigation was opened in June at the Jirs of Nancy for thefts in an organized group, destruction of the property of others by a means dangerous for people and criminal association with a view to preparing crimes, in this case thefts in organized gang.
A specialized investigation unit had been set up.
It enabled the gang to be traced, the overall damage of which amounts to several hundred thousand euros.
