The Ministry of Health updated today (Friday) that 53,955 people were diagnosed with corona last week - a figure about 7% lower than the week before, when 57,790 people were diagnosed with the virus.

This is the first time that the number of infections has been declining since the beginning of November.

The total number of infections in Israel since then stands at 585,746.



Also, 376 people died this week - a significant increase over last week, when 304 people died.

This is the highest figure since the outbreak of the plague.

The total death toll from the virus now stands at 4,245.



In the last day, 7,099 people have been diagnosed with corona carriers.

Out of 81,828 tests, the positive rate is 8.9%.

The test data and their results are not final and may change in subsequent updates from the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the number of respirators is 310 - an increase of 47 people compared to the previous week, when the number was 263. Last week the number of respirators increased by 43 people.



There has also been a moderate increase in the number of patients in critical condition.

Compared to 1,097 such patients in the previous week, there are now 1,128 - an increase of only 31 patients.

For comparison, in the previous week the number of critically ill patients increased by 224, and in the previous week by 195.



The number of active patients is 82,029, an increase of 3,599 from last week, when the figure was 78,430.

Last week there was an increase of 12,916.

Also, 1,845 corona patients are hospitalized in the hospitals - a decrease of three from the previous week.
