Ann-Kathrin Güner will be sworn in as the new city councilor of the Free Voters (FW) in the city council meeting next Tuesday.
She takes over for Dominik Irmer, who is resigning from his mandate for professional and private reasons.
Geretsried - the successor on the FW list would actually be Manfred Freiseisen according to the local election result.
But the 78-year-old waives in favor of Güners, who is next on the list.
He was a member of the city council for 24 years and the honorary position gave him great pleasure, says Freiseisen.
But now younger people should take responsibility.
“I've thought about it carefully.
At almost 80 years of age, I no longer have to get involved, ”says the former“ Baufuchs ”employee, who has always been a voice-catcher.
Ann-Kathrin Güner has been a member of the Free Voters since 2013.
She has headed the FW local association since 2019.
The 33-year-old describes herself as a “real Geretsried child”.
Her parents found a new home in the city in 1980 as repatriates from the Banat.
Güner, who is married, worked for ten years as an educator in a day care center in Fürstenried.
She also studied social work.
She is about to graduate and just has to write her bachelor thesis.
In the future, she wants to work with adults, she says: “So there is a lot going on for me right now.” Because of her job, upbringing, education and social issues are important to her.
She wants to campaign for this in the city council.
Ann-Kathrin Güner wants to keep the local chairmanship of the free voters for the time being.
In the medium term, however, a separation of the city council faction and board, as is customary with FW, is planned.
New elections are due in 2022.
