The SAR government issued a statement today (22nd) strongly opposed to the European Parliament's "resolution" on Hong Kong, and pointed out that the content of the "resolution" was biased and was politically motivated rather than reflecting facts.

The statement stated that the "resolution" requires the immediate release of suspects arrested by law enforcement agencies, including those who have been convicted by the courts. It seems that people holding certain political ideas should not be punished by law. The Hong Kong government is shocked by this and emphasized No one can override the law. Anyone who breaks the law, no matter where he is or where he is, as long as the crime falls within the jurisdiction of Hong Kong, must face legal sanctions.

The Hong Kong government stated in the statement that the "Hong Kong National Security Act" does not violate the "Sino-British Joint Declaration" and emphasized that the "Sino-British Joint Declaration"'s basic policy on Hong Kong is a unilateral policy statement by China, not a commitment by China to the UK. , Not to mention the so-called international obligations. As the country resumes its sovereignty over Hong Kong and completes various follow-up tasks, the provisions of the Sino-British Joint Declaration related to the British side have been fulfilled.
