Washington-SANA, US media revealed that hundreds of US National Guard members have been infected with Coronavirus

Washington-SANA

American media revealed that hundreds of members of the US National Guard were infected with the Corona virus, following the recent unrest that took place more than two weeks ago during the storming of supporters of former President Donald Trump, the headquarters of Congress.

The American newspaper "Politico" quoted sources in the US National Guard that hundreds of its fighters who arrived in Washington to ensure security after the congressional storming accident were infected with the Corona virus.

Informed sources indicated in an interview with the newspaper that hundreds of guardsmen had tested positive for the virus, and were quarantined in local hotels after contacting the sick.

The National Guard Command refused to publish official data on the number of people infected with the virus, but lawmakers are very concerned about the widespread spread of the disease.

The newspaper pointed out that the situation deteriorated sharply after the issuance of an order to move National Guard members from government buildings to rest to nearby garages, where five thousand people gathered in one of them, who had only one bathroom at their disposal.

The American authorities transferred 15 thousand members of the National Guard to Washington, against the backdrop of the storming of the Congress headquarters by some of Trump's supporters, to ensure security in the capital and prevent the recurrence of unrest, especially in light of the inauguration ceremony of the new president, Joe Biden, on the 20th of this month.
