There are still hundreds to thousands of people arriving at the airport every day from other places, and airport employees are at high risk of infection.

It is understood that the Hong Kong government intends to require all staff at the airport to undergo mandatory testing.

"Hong Kong 01" obtained a notice issued to employees from one of the airport companies, stating that the AA has notified all operators that the government requires all airport staff to undergo a free compulsory test from February 2 to 23.

There are currently about 60,000 people working at the airport.

The notice also lists the conditions for those who need to participate in the mandatory inspection. All those who work at the airport for at least 3 days a week from March 1 to 31 must participate in the mandatory inspection.

Some labor unions said that those who refuse to participate in the test may be banned from starting work at the airport in March.

Chu Hansong, director general of the Airport Air Transport Staff Association, pointed out that some airport service operators have recently received a notice from the AA asking their employees to undergo mandatory testing next month. However, for the time being, only some companies have issued an announcement to their employees. It is estimated that the details may be undecided.

According to his understanding, some companies are still discussing the details of the measures with the AA, such as whether employees need to bring documents issued by the company to the testing center before they can be arranged for free sample testing.

According to the notice, the personnel required to participate in the mandatory inspection include all companies, organizations, tenants, service providers, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors working at the airport.

As long as the relevant personnel will work at the airport for 3 days or more a week in March, they must participate in mandatory testing.

All employees in the airport must complete a one-time mandatory test within 2 months.

Workers who refused to accept the news from the union may be banned from working at the airport in March

The Aviation Industry Front stated on Facebook earlier that the Frontier received news that if employees working at the airport refuse to be tested in February, they will be barred from working at the airport in March.

When receiving enquiries from "Hong Kong 01", the Front said that the AA has not yet notified its staff of the arrangement, and it is estimated that it is still in the preparation stage. For details, please contact the AA.

Ye Weiming, secretary-general of the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Industry Workers Union of the Federation of Trade Unions, said that he has heard relevant rumors, but has not received any definite news.

He believes that because there are as many as 60,000 people working at the airport, if the government requires all airport employees to make a mandatory inspection, it should formally explain it as soon as possible.

He estimated that employees should be willing to accept the arrangement, but suggested that the testing center set up in the airport can operate 24 hours a day to meet the needs of workers working in shifts.

Ye Weiming also hopes that the testing center can ensure that testing reports can be issued. He pointed out that some companies may require workers to submit reports for confirmation, but workers who have participated in testing in the past reported that they could not receive reports.

"Hong Kong 01" is making inquiries with the AA, but there is no reply yet.

Apliu Street and Golden Computer Shopping Mall have suffered a sharp drop in traffic, and they have been assigned to Sham Shui Po mandatory inspection area.
