He admitted to shaking the baby sharply twice.

He felt overwhelmed.

He is indicted for willful violence against a minor under 15 years of age leading to death without intention of giving it,

”explained the public prosecutor, Matthieu Bourrette.

The facts allegedly took place around January 13.

It is the mother who, seeing the state of health of her baby deteriorating, took him to the University Hospital of Reims on the night of January 13 to 14,

”added the magistrate.

The infant died there on January 16 from intracranial and cephalic lesions.

The hospital immediately reported the incident to the Châlons-en-Champagne prosecutor's office, which opened an investigation first entrusted to the police at the Epernay police station where the couple resides.

The latter was placed in police custody for 48 hours in this police station.

"

The mother was completely out of the question

", specified Matthieu Bourrette.

He underlines that the father of the family, without a criminal record and well integrated socially, admitted to sometimes behave "

impulsively

" and "

angry

", in particular once towards his partner.

He faces up to 30 years of criminal imprisonment.
