Another step in the direction of a mountain bike concept for the district has been taken.
The German Alpine Association has submitted a list of suggestions for possible mountain bike routes to the Lower Nature Conservation Authority in the District Office, which is currently being examined.
Bad Tölz - “The list will probably be reduced,” believes coordinator Benjamin Trotter.
The probably abbreviated list should then be presented to the municipalities and property owners.
As reported, the concept is about reconciling the interests of mountain bikers and farmers as well as possible.
In addition, the mountain bike streams are to be channeled.
Recently, however, there has been some excitement among athletes.
The reason: An administrative regulation that is supposed to help the lower nature conservation authorities to determine suitable paths.
The administrative regulation arose in the course of the popular initiative for biodiversity, explains Trotter.
Subsequently, among other things, a working group was formed that dealt with the suitability of trails for mountain bikers.
Representatives of the mountain farmers, the ministries, the Alpine Association and the Mountain Bike Initiative were in this meeting.
The parties involved then submitted comments on the draft.
This is what the Alpine Club did, reports Trotter, who regrets: “Unfortunately, nothing has been accepted of our suggestions and our criticism.” Now the question arises of how to deal with it: “Do we have to solve problems, or is the concern unfounded? "
Alpenverein feels ignored
The Alpine Association considers the chapter on path suitability to be worth discussing.
The Alpine Club welcomes the fact that the focus is not on subjective driving skills, but on the width of the path.
"However, it may be that a path is not unsuitable for mountain biking seven days a week, but only at certain peak times when there are also a lot of pedestrians." Trotter recommends orienting yourself to the Italian Trentino: "There are some paths which may not be used at certain peak times, but in the off-peak times. ”The administrative regulation also deals with erosion:“ Here is the statement of the Alpine Club: “It has been scientifically proven that the wear and tear of the trail by hikers and mountain bikers is identical. "
Conservation checks route list
In a three-year test phase, the ministry wants to find out whether the administrative regulation is practicable or whether it needs to be improved: "The authorities will face some challenges," believes Trotter.
"Especially when a lot of blocking signs are set up." The list of suggestions should actually be discussed at round tables with all parties involved in the winter months, but these had to be omitted due to the Corona crisis.
The idea of virtual conferences was also rejected.
That is why everyone involved is gradually being included.
“This way we remain able to act despite everything,” says Trotter.
