The neighbor of a nonagenarian, discovered killed at her home Thursday in Bully-les-Mines, in Pas-de-Calais, was indicted for
"murder on a vulnerable person"
claiming to have acted on
"a stroke of madness"
, said the Béthune prosecutor's office on Friday.

After the discovery of the victim, aged 94, her neighbor, taken in charge by the firefighters, had said that she
"had just been the victim of a break-in that went wrong"
and
"that two young people people had just fled on a moped, ”
said the prosecution in a statement.
"The first investigations did not make it possible to support the track of two fleeing burglars, in particular in the absence of break-in, and led to the placement in police custody of the injured neighbor, whose clothes and shoes showed traces of blood" .
"During his police custody, the defendant, 39 years old and having no criminal record, immediately recognized the facts of intentional homicide",
according to the press release.
“He gave no explanation for his gesture claiming to know the victim only by sight.
He evoked a 'stroke of madness' in a context of personal discomfort ”.
The man was remanded in custody.
