The train station in Freising was chosen by the Deutsche Bahn as "future station 2020".

Now the DB wants to make nails, has applied to the city for the construction of a new wooden pavilion on the area of the short-term car park opposite the station entrance, in order to act as soon as possible.

Freising - A café and a bicycle workshop are to be housed there.

But the planning documents were not enough to get a positive opinion from the administration and the planning committee.

The application was made to erect the wooden pavilion in an elevated construction (including stairs and ramp), along with the relocation and reduction of short-term parking spaces as well as the installation of a bookcase, a Bike-O-Mats and a bicycle repair column.

The goal: to give commuters the opportunity to have their bikes checked again before setting off and to buy regional products.

The focus is therefore on integrating regional products and regional operators, emphasizes DB.

According to the needs analysis presented, the existing number of short-term parking spaces (20 plus three for people with disabilities and seven for using the post office) could be reduced to eight short-term parking spaces plus three disabled parking spaces and the seven post office parking spaces.

Because only six short-term parking spaces were recorded in the plans submitted, the city urged in its statement that at least the eight parking spaces be proven.

In addition, the city pointed out that the route running east of the wooden pavilion from Münchner Straße to the train station was of the greatest importance and should not be narrowed.

Then there were still some points unclear that did not allow the building supervision of the city of Freising to examine the application: Since the existing public toilet facility is to be partially decommissioned, the question arises as to whether the new toilet facility now planned for the entire station area is sufficient.

In addition, there was still a lack of documents with information on the building heights and space requirements, which also prevents an examination.

Conclusion: A positive statement from the city on the DB project is not possible.

The developer was asked to revise the points listed, to add missing documents and information and then to submit them to the city again.
