Cavs still dominate the Nets, Philadelphia and the OK Clippers

Definitely, Cleveland does not succeed in Brooklyn ... Kyrie Irving and company bowed in Ohio last night.

We take the same and start over: two days after their victory at the end of the suspense, the Cavaliers again beat the Nets (125-113) on Friday night, still carried by an incredible Collin Sexton.

With 25 points and nine assists, Sexton once again held the high dragee to the strong men of Brooklyn, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, as in the masterful success Wednesday night (147-135) after a double overtime.

Only difference: Kevin Durant had this time been left to rest.

Friday, Cleveland did not go on forever.

Dominant, the franchise of Ohio took control of the game in the third quarter, taking advantage of the porous defense of the Nets to record a third consecutive victory.

Besides Sexton, the Cavs were able to count on Andre Drumond, who achieved his 13th double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds, and on Larry Nance (15 pts).

Former Net, Taurean Prince, was also not kind to his ex-teammates, scoring 14 points.

“When we're a full, fit team we're very tough to beat,” said Drummond.

Opposite, neither Irving (38 pts) nor Harden (19 pts, 11 assists) were unworthy, but with only 14 three-point baskets scored on 43 attempts, it was not enough.

“I don't want to overreact, but we need everyone to put things back in order, because we have underperformed in those two games,” said Nets coach Steve Nash.

“Everyone is over-motivated to play against our team and it will be like that every night.

I have the feeling that we are going to have to give a little more and we have to take more pride in what we do ”.

“Our problem is not with the attack.

We are not at all concerned about the attack.

It's our defense, ”said Harden.

The Clippers return to the front

Galvanized by these successes, Cleveland will try Sunday to end its streak of eight consecutive losses against the Celtics.

Conversely, Boston will try to regain a little confidence after the two losses he has just recorded against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Friday night, in the shock of the Eastern Conference, he was again outscored 122-110.

The Sixers, who consolidate their status as leaders in the East, made the difference thanks to the 38 points and 11 rebounds of Joel Embiid and the 23 points of Tobias Harris, decisive.

Seth Curry, absent for the past seven matches after testing positive for Covid-19, was back and scored 15 points.

The Celtics are still without Jayson Tatum, who tested positive on January 9.

And despite the 42 points scored by Jaylen Brown on Friday, they fell back to 4th place in the standings.

West side, Luka Doncic was particularly illustrated, coming close to the triple double (36 pts, 9 assists, 9 rebounds) to offer the victory to the Dallas Mavericks over the San Antonio Spurs (122-117).

The pivot of the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic, was also not far from the triple double (31 pts, 10 rebounds, 8 assists) and allowed his team to win in Denver after extra time (130-126 ) despite a badly started match.

The Los Angeles Clippers recorded their sixth consecutive victory by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 120-106, and thus regain the leadership position of the Lakers.
