MK Sami Abu Shehadeh will head the Balad list for the Knesset, after defeating the current chairman, MK Matans Shehadeh, last night (Saturday) in the party's elections.
In second place was elected MK Hiba Yizbek, in front of whom no one ran, and in third place was former MK Jamaa Azberga, who defeated Munib Treviya.
In fourth place was Iyad Rabi.
This means that the current chairman of the list, MK Shehadeh, will not serve in the next Knesset.
Abu Shehadeh, 45, a resident of Jaffa, previously served as a member of the Tel Aviv-Yafo City Council on behalf of Balad, in a faction that is a member of the coalition of Mayor Ron Huldai.

Former party chairman and MK Jamal Zahalka told Walla! NEWS that he congratulates Abu Shehadeh and is proud of all those elected: "We are the only party that has done primaries and we are proud of that," he said.
"In a democratic atmosphere, we are coming out of this election united. We will wage a struggle against parties on the right and left that go out to rake in votes in Arab society, and at the same time unite the ranks in society with a common program."
