238 people in Russia were arrested today (Saturday) in demonstrations in support of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, the country's media reported.
Navalny this week called on his supporters to take to the streets and demonstrate, after being arrested on Sunday in Moscow on his return from Germany for the first time since being poisoned last summer.
According to Reuters, police in Moscow began making arrests of Nabalani supporters even before the planned main protest event in the city began.
Hundreds of people gathered in the city center, and eyewitnesses of the news agency said 11 people had been arrested on the spot.
