Within the framework of the reconstruction projects for the old city damaged by terrorism in Aleppo, the Military Construction Corporation "Aleppo Branch" is carrying out rehabilitation works for the firewood yard in the Al-Jadida neighborhood, at a cost of 200 million Syrian pounds.
Engineer Hussam Halabi, Head of the Implementation Division in the Old City Directorate, told SANA that the square, which was an area of social and commercial activities, has been severely affected by terrorism, pointing out that the rehabilitation works currently underway include filling pits and basalt slabs for the square and the surrounding axes.
Halabi confirmed that Al-Hatab Square is one of the largest and most important squares located outside the ancient walls of the old city with an area of 2500 square meters, which is part of the new area and is characterized by the ancient Arab houses in addition to the presence of old churches and mosques in it as well as being an outlet for the people of Aleppo through which the internal tourism movement is active .
