Bad Wiessee

- The hopes that the Swiss investor SME (Sports Medicine Excellence Group) will achieve something on the site of the former iodine sulfur bath in Bad Wiessee are noticeably dwindling.

Nevertheless, the company is currently still the owner of the site and is therefore also responsible for maintaining the listed foyer.

Because it was not sufficiently secured for the winter, the Miesbach district office has now intervened.

The authority responsible for monument protection has sent a "security order that has been compulsory" to SME, said Mayor Robert Kühn in the local council.

In plain language: the owner must take measures as quickly as possible to prevent damage to the building fabric of the foyer from penetrating rainwater.

Otherwise he faces a fine.

Mayor: "Wandelhalle is the heart of our spa district"

Both the district office and the community have an eye on the area and are very interested in the foyer being preserved, says Kühn when asked.

"After all, the foyer is the heart of our spa district."

As is well known, the machines on the SME construction site have been idle since summer 2019.

At that time, the investor announced a construction freeze.

In the meantime, Kühn has already openly stated that they are relying on a new partner for the planned new building of the hotel.
