Due to construction work in Gernlinden: the bus route will be shortened

When the road bridge over the railway in Gernlinden is renovated in the next six months, the south of Gernlinden will no longer be served by the 875 bus.

The connection to the commercial area has priority.

Gernlinden -

The ailing car bridge over the tracks (Merianstrasse) will soon be renovated.

The road is therefore completely closed from February to August.

This leads to a problem with bus line 875, which runs north and south of the railway line in Gernlinden.

If an overpass over the tracks is tight, something must be changed.

The Maisach municipal council decided against the Greens that the bus would only run in the north of Gernlinden during the construction period - the south was cut off until August.

Four variants had been played through in the town hall.

It would also have been possible for one bus to spin in the north and the other in the south every 20 minutes.

But then you would have needed a second vehicle and that would have resulted in additional costs of 100,000 euros.

Too expensive, according to the majority in the local council.

With the one existing bus, the second and third option would have been 40 and 30 minute intervals throughout the entire local area.

But they did not want to expect the employees in the industrial park to have a longer cycle.

In addition, the transitions to the 872 bus line and the S 3 would have become worse.

The 30-minute cycle might have been negotiable.

But Mayor Hans Seidl (CSU) emphasized that in this case the bus would have to take a different route and would have to turn around before the Gernlinden center.

If you don't go to the town center, the offer won't do much.

Barbara Helmers (Greens) said that anyone who wanted the traffic turnaround should not cut off southern Gernlinden from the 875 bus route for half a year.

Precisely because it is a new public transport offer.

Christian Kemether (CSU) also emphasized this: The bus has only been running since September 2019, but is now being discontinued in the south, "would be a step backwards".

"The south side will accept it," said Gabriele Rappenglitz (CSU).

Seidl added that he did not want to send buses through narrow residential streets.

The possible route in the south is not attractive - it is better to take a break for half a year.

For him, it is more important to connect the industrial park well as usual: "The largest employer does not accept any changes."

16 council members finally voted to cut Gernlinden-Süd from the 875 bus line by August.

Barbara Helmers was particularly annoyed by the procedure for voting: As the speaker for mobility in public spaces, she was not allowed to speak at the beginning of the discussion - as is usual with speakers.

And shortly before the vote, an offer was made to postpone the item until the next meeting on February 11th, in order to inquire in the district office how much the line 875 in the south is used by passengers.

Then the decision was made immediately.

Helmers: "You can do it like that, but it's not nice."
