Tomorrow (Sunday), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will submit a proposal to the government to stop flights to and from Israel for two weeks, in order to prevent the entry of further mutations of the corona virus.

This is after discussions on the subject over the weekend, with senior officials in the Ministry of Health and Transport.



During the discussions, it was agreed in principle, subject to government approval, that the entry and exit of foreign and Israeli passenger flights would be banned.

Reduction of the permit to arrive at Ben Gurion Airport, so that it will only be possible in exceptional cases that will be approved by a committee headed by the directors of the Ministries of Health and Transport.

It was further agreed to formulate a separate outline for humanitarian cases that would require special flights, and that the restrictions would apply to passenger flights for 14 days and take effect after government approval.



The discussions were attended by Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, Transportation Minister Miri Regev, National Security Chief of Staff Meir Ben Shabbat, Ministry of Health Director General Prof. Hezi Levy, Ministry of Transportation Director General Ofer Malka, Corona Commissioner Prof. Nachman Ash Dr. Sharon Elrai Price, the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Yoel Feldschau, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit and other senior officials.
