In the eleven months that the pandemic has been in Mexico, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) has gone from allocating less than 500 beds for respiratory illnesses to almost 19,000.

Zoé Robledo, the director of the agency that treats one in two infected with SARS-CoV-2, is clear that without a joint effort by the Government and society there will be no hospital reconversion that is sufficient if the rate of transmission does not decrease.
