In the early hours of yesterday (22nd), the police smashed 5 units in Hung Hom that were illegal gambling establishments, 2 unlicensed bars and 2 illegally operated party rooms. A total of 42 people were arrested and 68 people were charged for violating the gathering restriction order.

Superintendent Alan Chung of the West Kowloon Criminal Division stated that the West Kowloon Regional Criminal Division, the Anti-Triad Squad and the Crime Squad have conducted intelligence-led operations with officers from the Kowloon City Police District to target illegal activities in the industrial and commercial buildings in West Kowloon. Arrests were carried out at brand bars, karaoke, gambling establishments, and party rooms that violated prevention and illegal business operations.



At 12 o'clock in the morning yesterday (22nd), detectives simultaneously raided 9 units located in Kaixuan Industrial and Commercial Centre, Fu Gao Industrial Centre and Eida Industrial Building, Man Lok Street, Hung Hom, and found that 5 units were illegal gambling establishments and 2 were unlicensed. A total of 31 men and 11 women, aged between 20 and 52, were arrested in the bar and 2 illegally opened party rooms.



The arrested persons are suspected of violating "operating an unlicensed bar", "operating or managing illegal casinos", "gambling in casinos" and violating the "Prevention and Control of Disease Regulations". 11 of them have been charged and 31 Bail pending investigation.

In addition, 68 people were voted for violating the gathering restriction order.

During the operation, the agents seized 3 poker tables, 1 baccarat table, 7 fishing machines, chips worth 920,000 yuan and alcoholic drinks worth more than 150,000 yuan.

Zhong Yalun said that the above-mentioned units are small in size but can accommodate many people, increasing the risk of infection. He cited as an example that one of the units placed a poker table and a large number of tables and chairs in less than 100 feet of space. There were 1 host and 10 people in the venue. Gamblers, and most people do not wear masks, the risk of virus transmission is very high.
