The Special Representative of the Russian President for Middle East and African Affairs and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov reaffirmed the commitment to the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria.
"Bogdanov confirmed, during his meeting with the Syrian ambassador to Moscow, Dr. Riyad Haddad yesterday, of his country's steadfast support for Syria's sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and its readiness to continue supporting the Syrian people in combating international terrorism," a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website today.
The statement added that during the meeting, they focused on developments in the situation in and around Syria, and discussed in detail the urgent issues to continue strengthening Russian-Syrian cooperation, especially with regard to the reconstruction of economic and social structures in Syria.
And Bogdanov had discussed in a phone call with the special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, Pedersen yesterday also changed the organizational preparations for holding the next round of the constitutional debate committee.
