Six people were killed today as a result of the collapse of an apartment building in the city of Mahalla al-Kubra, Gharbia Governorate, northern Egypt.
Egyptian media quoted the Gharbia administration as saying in a statement that a five-storey residential building in the Abu Radi area of Al-Mahalla Al-Kubra collapsed, leading to the death of 6 people and wounding two others, noting that the search for survivors and victims of the accident continues.
In turn, Governor of Gharbia, Tariq Rahmi, called for the formation of an engineering committee to find out the reasons for the collapse of the building and to examine the neighboring properties to ensure their safety.
In mid-August, the Egyptian authorities announced the rescue of 18 people and the loss of others due to the collapse of an apartment building in the capital, Cairo.
