The Nets thank Kyrie
After two consecutive losses at Cleveland, Brooklyn finally tasted victory with its trio of stars Durant / Harden / Irving, against Miami 128-124, in a meeting which again showed all the work to be done to make it a favorite. for the title, elsewhere than on paper.
Because on the floor, for lack of chemistry, the Nets are still a sum of individuals, each certainly capable of taking the game on its own when the urgency points.
This was the case against the Cavaliers, in vain, and it was again against the Heat, who ended up bending before Irving, untenable in the money-time by scoring 18 of his 28 points (7 assists).
Brooklyn however led by 14 points at the start of the 4th quarter, taking advantage in particular of the excellent address of Joe Harris behind the arc (7/12, 23 pts) and Durant's 31 points, but, for lack of defending well, he let Miami come back to height, in the wake of Bam Adebayo (41 pts, personal best, 9 assists).
Harden, he did his best to be useful in an evening without the shoot (2/8, 12 pts) by delivering 11 assists.
But he committed 6 losses of balls out of 18 of the Nets, still 5th in the East.
The Lakers at no charge
Two days after pulling the muscles out of Giannis Antetokounmpo to beat Milwaukee, LeBron James let Anthony Davis crush the Bulls in his hometown of Chicago to allow LA to chain a 9th straight 101-90 victory at the away, improving his franchise record early in the season.
"AD" finished with 37 points (6 rebounds) in just 28 minutes played, as the Lakers led by twenty lengths at the break.
"LBJ" was satisfied with 17 points (11 rebounds).
The defending champion (13-4) takes back the chair of the leader in the West from the Clippers.
In the East it is the Sixers who dominate the competition (12-5), after their success obtained in Detroit 114-110, again due to Joel Embiid author of 33 points (14 rebounds).
The Cameroonian interior became the first Philadelphia player since Wilt Chamberlain (1967) to score at least 33 and 10 in these categories over three consecutive matches.
Reggie Miller Double Curry
Entering five long-range baskets in Golden State's 127-108 loss to Utah, two-time MVP (2015, 2016) Stephen Curry took 2nd place in a standings he is promised to dominate eventually.
Here he is with 2,562 winning shots on the clock in front of the former Indiana shooter (2,560).
"You are an inspiration to so many little ones, like mine," congratulated Reggie Miller, accompanied by his young son, in a live exchange on television.
Curry is still quite a ways away from Ray Allen's 2,973, but it's only a matter of time to overtake him.
It is enough for that to observe their times of passage: it took 1,074 matches for Allen to do better than Miller (2,561), while the star of the Warriors only needed 715. Appointment can be made in 2022 to see the latter set a new record.
In the meantime, the leader (24 pts, 7 rebounds, 7 assists) could not prevent his team from undergoing the law of Jazz, currently intractable (eight wins in a row, tied for 2nd with the Clippers).
The Nuggets kings of suspense
After the overtime success won the day before in Phoenix, Denver put it back 120-112 during the back-to-back in Arizona, but this time after two overtime!
Jamal Murray (26 pts) snatched the first overtime with a three-point shot at the buzzer, before Jae Crowder (21 pts) answered him in the same way to obtain the second.
It was finally Nikola Jokic, still impressive (29 pts, 22 rebounds), who finished the job for the Nuggets 5th in the West.
