Toulon on the podium!
The RCT is back in the upper strata of the Top 14. With this victory, the Var have taken third place from Racing 92, defeated on Saturday on their lawn by the UBB (32-33).
A ranking that seems logical, as the Toulonnais seem to have found their cruising speed in recent weeks.

The impregnable Toulon fortress
A year and a half that all the visiting teams leave without victory.
The last defeat of the Var in their lair of Mayol?
A setback on September 7, 2019, against Lyon (6-20).
Since then, by counting this umpteenth victory, the counter shows 15 consecutive victories.
And without their boiling supporters.
Even if a few of them found the parade to watch the game around the stadium legally ...

The Toulon defense
How aggressive the Toulon defensive front is!
Faced with Parisians who insisted on playing by hand, Charles Ollivon's teammates accepted the physical challenge and easily won it.
They have an excellent rate of successful tackles: 87%.
Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Eben Etzebeth, Romain Taofifenua… All of them managed to gain the advantage line.
And, with the exception of the end of the game, allowed their team not to defend in their 22 meters.
Flops
Nicolas Sanchez's red card
Hands on his head, opener Nicolas Sanchez already knew the penalty.
In a ruck, the Argentinian opening half got carried away and his shoulder hit the nose of Baptiste Serin (40th).
After watching the video, the match referee had no choice but to issue the red card.
Comforted by his teammates and opponents, he did not protest.
By way of comparison, the Toulonnais… have not received the slightest red card of the season!
Stade Francais relapses
Two trips, 83 points collected.
The note is salty for the men of Gonzalo Quesada, who followed a trip to Toulouse last week (48-24), and the meeting on Sunday evening.
After a good start to the season, the Stadistes are in 8th place, four points behind 7th, Lyon.
And the schedule seems particularly busy: a reception in Castres next weekend (January 31 at 2:45 p.m.), then three successive trips to Montpellier, Bordeaux and La Rochelle.
Breakage at the Blues
Fabien Galthié and his staff were to fear.
The sequence of meetings during this month of January was conducive to injuries.
After that of Virimi Vakatawa yesterday and the physical worries of Grégory Alldritt, it is the turn of captain Charles Ollivon to worry.
The leader of the XV of France came out on concussion protocol after a shock to the head (18th), and did not return to the lawn.
Likewise, Baptiste Serin was the victim of a shoulder tackle from Nicolas Sanchez (40th), even if the scrum half did not come out.
