Eleven of the 22 gold miners trapped in a mine in China two weeks ago were rescued this morning (Sunday) by the rescuers.

According to local network reports, most of them are in good condition.

However, there are still 10 miners trapped deep in the mine.

In photos published in the Chinese media, the miners were seen coming out of the depths of the earth wearing a mask so that they would not be exposed to the bright sunlight after not being exposed to it for so long.

One of the rescued miners was taken out of the hole the rescuers had drilled on a stretcher, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Another miner was seen injured, but the rest walked away clinging to rescuers.

"We made significant progress this morning," said the chief engineer on the rescue team.

"After scattering the rubble, we found some cavities deep in the ground."

Just last Thursday, authorities said it may take up to two more weeks to rescue this group of miners.

The trapped miners have been able to get regular food since yesterday, after the large rescue team, which numbers more than 600 people, managed to move deeper towards them.

The mine collapsed due to an explosion that occurred on January 10 inside a mine in the town of Chisha in Shandong Province in eastern China.

In addition to the rescuers who were rescued, it is known that at least one other miner died after being hit in the head by the explosion.

It is not yet known what happened to 10 other trapped people, with whom the rescuers were unable to make contact.
