Alfredo Cornejo, president of the Radical Civic Union, once again demanded an intervention of the national government in Formosa, amid the complaints about the handling of the pandemic in that province.
And he assured that, if Alberto Fernández does not take a measure in that sense, Formosa "can end up
like Catamarca with the María Soledad case."
"This situation can
end in the worst way.
If the national government does not intervene, these restrictions on freedom will be deepened. And it could end as happened in Catamarca with María Soledad, or like other cases in Santiago del Estero," said Cornejo .
And he added: "They have to take action on the matter. Alberto Fernández should take the lead in the situation."
The situation to which Cornejo referred are a series of
irregularities in the
Formosan
isolation centers
, where infected people live with other people who are still waiting for the result of the Covid test or even who gave negative in those tests.
Cornejo denounced Alberto Fernández's "complicity" with Gildo Insfrán for the irregularities in the health policy of Formosa.
"What we live in Formosa are restrictions on basic and elementary freedoms, of which we know little outside of Formosa. And the little we know gives us the guidelines of what that means," said Cornejo, in dialogue with Radio Ciudad.
For this reason, the national legislator
pointed to the "complicity" of the national Executive with the provincial government.
"The biggest problem is not with Gildo Insfrán, but with the
complicity of Alberto Fernández
and his government with Insfrán. There we must put the claim. If we do not have a federal government that really gives the guarantees so that in certain provinces there is freedom and republicanism, we are in trouble, "Cornejo said.
The referent of radicalism added: "Without the intervention of the national government,
Formosa will explode the day that there is an aberrant event, like a death.
We should not wait for that. The national government should be fully involved in fixing these problems in a democratic framework. All the characteristics for a federal intervention are given. "
The irregularities in the Preventive Isolation Center of the Cincuentenario Stadium were aired last week by councilors Gabriela Neme and Celeste Ruiz Diaz, who filed a complaint against the governor of Formosa for the conditions in which the isolated people are found in that place.
Five days after the videos were broadcast, both councilors were arrested when they were participating in a demonstration in front of a school in the provincial capital.
Hours later they were released.
Legislators of the Civic Coalition called for the federal intervention of the Executive Power of Formosa, as anticipated by the party's leader, Elisa Carrió.
However, Peronism closed ranks: it denounced a "fierce political and media campaign" and an attack by the opposition against Insfrán.
