The planning for the Grafinger children's home at the stadium has been going on for twelve years, the costs are running away.

Now it could start all over again.

The city council thinks about it

Grafing

- “Go back to the start”: Anyone who has an older version of the game “Monopoly” at home will still be familiar with this event card.

And possibly the Grafingen city council has drawn this card and will now start all over again with the planning of the children's center on Forellenstrasse after a long lead time.

Like Monopoly, it's about a lot of money.

On the agenda, it sounded like routine.

According to current estimates, the costs for the 100 meter long and narrow new building amount to 8.2 to 8.5 million euros.

The difference results from installing or not using a ventilation system.

This means that the financial outlay would actually be in the range that was approved in November 2018.

Everything in butter?

Not quite.

Construction costs have run away

The catch: In the course of the twelve-year planning period, the city's construction costs have run away.

In the meantime, the financial framework already added up to over ten million euros before the city council pulled the emergency brake.

The equipment had to be properly deleted in order to get back to the 8.5 million.

Among other things, planned club rooms fell victim to the red pen.

Mayor: Perhaps completely different ways?

It appears that some councilors are consolidating the view that it is better to start all over again.

In any case, this is how a verbal contribution by Mayor Christian Bauer (CSU) can be interpreted, who thought out loud about “maybe even going completely different ways”.

Thomas Huber (CSU) argued in the same direction, pointing out that such kindergartens “are being built for 3.5 million euros” in Munich.

That should also be cheaper in Grafing.

Greens: Build sustainably

“Today I feel a new building without photovoltaics is an anachronism,” Josef Biesenberger (Greens) criticized another consequence of the deletions.

His parliamentary colleague Ottilie Eberl made a clear plea for “a new beginning.

This is not a sustainable building, ”she criticized the planners present.

They pointed out that the hillside location suggested a concrete construction method and that the premises of the development plan had also been followed.

“Why not a wooden or brick building?” Criticized Josef Fritz (CSU).

Hermann Maier (Greens) also agreed: "If we take that much money into our hands, we should build sustainably," he pleaded for new planning.

Of course, there were voices in this situation who did not like the new direction at all, the plans are already too far advanced.

Christian Einhellig (FW) told the new city council that he was “not ready” when the committees were reassembled to reorient themselves every time.

"When we decided on the development plan, we didn't know what that meant," admitted CSU City Councilor Susanne Linhart.

One consequence of this framework regulation is that the open spaces for the children may only be arranged north of the building in order to protect the parts of the settlement in the vicinity from children's noise.

Of course, this has an impact on the height of the building if you don't want to risk the children having to play in the shade all year round.

The kindergarten must therefore remain “flat”.

Decision in February

Josef Pollinger (CSU) put an end to the debate with a procedural motion that was approved without a dissenting vote.

The city councils will therefore go back to their own devices, the new kindergarten will be back on the agenda at the beginning of February.

Until then, the council members want to rearrange themselves.
