So far, investigators have not established any link between the three murders and the violence.

"The research section of the Pamandzi gendarmerie has engaged very significant means to search for the perpetrators of these various murders or assassinations"

, declared the public prosecutor Yann Le Bris.

No arrests were made for these murders, but the public prosecutor announced that a man was in pre-trial detention for an attempted murder carried out earlier this week.

The inhabitants of the neighborhoods where the violence took place as well as the mayor of Dzaoudzi-Labattoir, Saïd Omar Oili, believe that they are the result of settling of scores between people from Anjouan, neighboring island of the Union of the Comoros.

The group of Petite Terre, which is fighting to restore security, went to demonstrate in front of the residence of the prefect of Mayotte in Dzaoudzi on Sunday to ask him for answers to this violence.

The chief of staff Laurence Carval has promised reinforcements of the police for the days to come.

An insufficient promise for the collective which recalled that three of its members have made provisional detention, suspected of having killed an alleged offender.

Violence is the almost daily lot of Mayotte, a department where three quarters of the population (77%) live below the national poverty line, and where nearly half of the inhabitants are under 18 years old.

According to INSEE, half of the population is of foreign nationality, a large majority of whom live illegally on the territory.
