Police forces are working tonight (Sunday) to disperse riots in Shabbat Square in Jerusalem.

So far, two suspects have been arrested for disorderly conduct and causing damage to traffic lights and vehicles.

The rioters blocked roads, damaged infrastructure and threw stones at vehicles.

At this point, all traffic arteries in the area are open.

Earlier, a light rail and a light rail station in the area of Shivtei Israel Street were vandalized.

Police are conducting searches in the area for other suspects in the act.

Both the train and the station were heavily damaged.

The windows of the train present at the station were painted black, and an obstacle was placed on the track.

Also, the windshields of the station were completely shattered.

The destruction of the train and the station probably came as part of the fight against the planned train route in Bar Ilan.

Citypass, which operates the light rail in Jerusalem, said that "a lot of damage was done to the light rail and to the train station by a group of violent demonstrators who rioted."

The protesters added that "the protesters who smashed the windshields of the trains and stations and threw sticky paint on the carriages, endangered the frightened passengers with their actions. Citypass strongly condemns the violent and vandalistic attack, and calls on the police to prosecute the rioters."

The clashes tonight continue the clashes that took place earlier in the Mea Shearim neighborhood, which began after police forces arrived at the Satmar Yeshiva and the Satmar Hasidic Synagogue on Joel Street, to enforce the corona regulations.

Hundreds of protesters at the Satmar yeshiva set fire to bins on the road and hurled stones at law enforcement, injuring a policewoman in her hand.

Police used a machete against the residents, and one person was arrested.

"Police forces are working to restore order using the means as needed," they said.

Following the recent clashes with police forces, the Jerusalem faction announced that Rabbi Asher Deutsch, one of the prominent leaders in the faction, ordered a protest at the intersection of Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Shach streets in Bnei Brak, which would later expand to other areas.

"The great Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Asher Deutsch Shlita ordered a protest against these criminal moves, and to announce at the gate of many that the voice of the Torah and prayer from the people of Israel cannot be silenced," they said.
